Flirty in Fuchsia

Zara blazer and floral short, Lush blouse, Guess by Marciano wedge platforms (similar here), YSL clutch, Bellomina angel wings necklace, Céline sunglasses

Oh, Valentine’s Day. That dreaded day for the singles..and the oh so crazy expensive hallmark holiday for the couples. Why does Valentine’s Day have to be a competition of who gets the most extravagant bouquet and gifts? I think sometimes it’s the most subtle things that your partner does that makes it special. And it does not have to be expressed solely on this particular day...which is ridiculously expensive. I feel everyday should be a celebration of love. The love of life.

How was your Valentine’s Day? Me? I was shooting a commercial, so I didn’t get to do anything in particular (saved money yippeee!). I was originally planning on having a sushi dinner at my fave Sushi Gen (best sushi in town!) in Little Tokyo with a friend but I didn’t camera wrap in time. I spent my Valentine’s evening on set having a 2nd dinner meal which consisted of catered chinese food with my fellow actors and assistant director. We even toasted each other with water bottles. How romantic! lol. Whether single, in a relationship, happily married (or not) or ‘it’s complicated’ like me, I certainly hope you took the time to really love yourself. Loving yourself in the sense of taking the time to do something special just for yourself. Could be anything from taking a romantic bubble bath, eating that decadent dessert you’ve been craving, embarking on a beautiful solo hike...or simply to just doll yourself up and look pretty. Have some “me” time. Nurture this self love, because one must learn to love oneself before loving another.

So in honor of this lovey dovey day, I opted for some pop of colors in my ensemble. A fuchsia hot pink blazer with yellow lace blouse, paired with cute floral shorts. Cute and flirty. Just the way I like it. xx

Summer in January

Free People hoodie vest, Solemio crochet tank, Klique B short, Jeffrey Campbell boots, Oliver Peoples sunglasses, Urban Outfitters socks, Stacy Sterling necklace and bracelets

January is the new July! The weather in January has been so warm, that it actually felt like summer. So surprisingly enough, I’ve spent most of my days out by the beach and even took my bike out for a ride in Venice. When in Venice, one must dress the part! So I looked to the closet for my interpretation of boho-chic style to fit right in. Not too shabby? After a nice bike ride, I always end up hanging around Abbot Kinney - from all the unique shops, to my favorite Intelligentsia for my much need caffeine fix, and to some of the great dining experiences such as Gjelina. If you ever get a chance, spend a day out here and live the California dream...with the warm weather (during winter!), the perfect breeze, palm trees swaying, and especially when you can witness some breathtaking sunsets over the horizon.

And to all my fellow Asians, a Happy Chinese New Year! This past thursday eve, my family & I celebrated the Lunar New Year at my grandmother’s place. She is 94 and still going strong. She made one spectacular feast and just because it’s the Year of the Horse, doesn’t mean one should eat like a horse. Well I did, and unfortunately got sick for the next few days. I have a tendency to overeat sometimes, especially when the food is delicious and homemade! I love food and that is why I workout like a fiend. Maybe I should start posting some of my workout wear? xx

Stripes and Oxford

Forever 21 sweater (similar here), Flying Monkey jeans, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, Olive and Pique fedora, Proenza Schouler ps11 mini bag, Michael Kors watch

I think I may be turning into a tomboy.

Many moons ago, I worked for Nordstrom in the men’s department to get me through college and have always been intrigued by the limited choices available for men's traditional dress shoes. I remember staring at all the top selling oxfords by Allen Edmonds and wondering to myself if I would ever wear a pair like it. I loved the style but never gave it a chance. Flash forward to now, I am loving these cute oxfords. I am learning & willing to give all styles a chance now. It’s pretty amazing how one’s tastes change with time. What hasn’t changed? I’m still a loyal Nordy shopper but oh how I miss that 33% employee discount. xx

Winter in LA

Zara turtleneck sweater (similar here), Guess by Marciano leather band pants, Miz Mooz boots (similar here), Balenciaga Giant City bag (similar here), Zara angora beanie (similar here)

Finally it’s beginning to feel like winter here in Southern California, albeit just for a few days. I was beginning to accept the 80 degrees as the extent of winter in LA, but lo and behold, the polar vortex has arrived. I have to admit, as much as I enjoy this so-called summery winter, I do miss getting bundled up. I miss all the long coats, Uggs, cozy knits, scarves and all the winter accessories. I’m sorry to those who live in the mid-west to the east coast....but grass is greener on the other side. We always want what’s on the other side. Christmas should feel like winter: cold & cozy, not hot & freaking 80 degrees spent on the beach like summer. Maybe I’m so adverse to the hot sun because I’m that typical, traditional Asian who don’t want to get dark skin. But hey, I don’t do the big visor and the glove thing...I may be Asian, but not that Asian. Thanks global warming! Who knows what’s in store for us next?

I was so happy to wear this slight ‘wintery’ outfit, but it was truly a sad day for me. My pants were too tight! Arrggh!! I don’t weigh myself on a scale so you can always know when you put your pants on. When it’s tight, you know you’ve been a baaad girl . This little piggy had a little too much pumpkin pie from Urth Cafe over the holidays. Too much eating and not enough working out...fat a$$ in tight pants....is what you get. My camel toe (oh lord sweet jesus, did I just type that?) is showing (now that I mentioned it, don’t you dare zoom in on it) how embarrassing (should I photoshop?) By the way, did I mention all the photos on this blog are raw images?! Yep! Hence not retouched or photoshopped in any way...that’s what you get with good lighting and a good photographer. So camel toe or not...what you see is what you get. :) xx

Americana

BB Dakota cardigan sweater, Christian Louboutin Eventa mary jane pumps (similar here), Celine Trapeze bag, Urban Outfitters hat (similar here)

Happy New Year! My heart beats true for the red, white, and blue. I’m starting this year with a little Americana style to show my patriotic tribute for this great country that I call home. Every year I count my blessings to be able to do what I want and to have the freedom to do so. Guess I didn’t have to wait until Independence Day to show my appreciation. May this new year bring you great prosperity, a renewed zest for life, continued good health and most importantly, true happiness. Cheers to 2014! xx
