Bookworm Chic

Maeve blouse | AG Jeans pencil skirt | Zara red suede cut-out heels (similar here and here) | Namrata Joshipura headband | Wildfox Luna sunglasses | Photos by: Tina Clara (and some from my iPhone!)

Veni, Vidi, Legi!

I love to read. There’s no denying it...my greatest loves are between two covers. Remember the feeling you get when you don’t want to go to bed but you have to put the book down. Then you continue reading a few more chapters and so on...next thing you know, it’s dawn. This is what happens when you a read a good book. You sacrifice sleep. And yes, I have had many sleepless nights:)

With technology these days, so many people are on e-books or prefer buying new books. Me? I love the feel of books in my hand. I’m a traditional kinda gal and absolutely love the good old public library system. I even have my very first library card in possession! Using the public library makes you more responsible and it will give you a deadline to finish the books you check out. And more importantly, you are saving trees. Do good for the earth!

So this post is dedicated to all the bookworms (or Belle wannabes) out there. I ventured into The Last Bookstore in downtown Los Angeles. Talk about a quirky little bookstore - it’s very old but interesting with labyrinth of books. It’s a magical Harry Potter-esque with flying books and mazes. A book hunting adventure definitely worth checking out. My so-called bookworm look is très chic, quirky, fun and perfect for this location.

Why reach for just the stars when you can reach for a book and have the stars, the sun, and the moon! Happy reading. xx

March Mishmash

Angl leather denim jacket (similar here and here and here), Moth jeweled collar sweater, Rag and Bone skirt, Zara platform wedges, Proenza Schouler PS11 mini bag, Chanel perfume iPhone case, Photos by: Tina Clara

It’s March Madness! I decided to go a little crazy by mishmashing stripes, florals, leather, and denim all together..and top that off with what I call a nerdy batgirl glasses (that I got from a random boutique store for $5). Basically, I couldn’t decide on what to wear so I decided to wear it all. There is no explanation and it just somehow works. It just screams FUN. Don’t you think?

I typically buy many of my pieces on sale, so it’s more or less past season items and no longer avail. That’s what savvy smart shoppers do! We LOVE sales. I try not to buy full price unless they are designer handbags or shoes. I will do my best in the future to incorporate more pieces that are current and available in stock. And if not, well too bad;) xx

Penguin Love

Anthropologie sweater, Leather shorts (similar here and here), Celine Trapeze bag, Urban Outfitters hat (similar here), Urban Outfitters tights, Jeffrey Campbell bootie

When a male penguin falls in love with a female penguin, he searches the entire beach to find the perfect pebble to present her. And when he finally finds it, he waddles over to her and places the pebble right in front of her. Kind of like a proposal.

I have a thing for penguins. If you’ve seen the documentary on The March of the Penguins, you would feel the same way too. Not only are they cute and fascinating little creatures, but they symbolize the epitome of love and commitment. Which suffice to say (ahem) is quite lacking in this day and age...and location. These penguins are truly an example to live by. Seeing this sweater at the store, put a big smile on my face and there was absolutely no hesitation that this penguin is coming home with me. Besides penguins, I also love collecting whimsical pieces that incorporates seahorses, mermaids, owls, and angel wings. Oh and believe me, I look forward in sharing some of these in my future posts! xx
